The Family Child Care (FCC) center is another option for parents needing child care. All FCC providers register and become certified through the FCC management office on base. FCC providers watch your children from their home-based child care business. Providers accept all ages of children and can accommodate most work schedules including weekends. Note: Anyone providing more than a total of 10 hours of care per week on a regular basis in a home on base MUST be licensed through the FCC program.

The Family Child Care program is available for any individual interested in offering child care in their home. Home care providers play a key role in the Child and Youth programs. Providers at Cannon AFB are committed to taking care of military families. Parents are benefited by this program by giving them the assurance that their children are well taken care of in a home-like atmosphere. A Family Child Care (FCC) provider must be an adult who is at least 18 years of age or older providing care for a children in their home. The care is provided on a regular basis, usually 3 to 10 hours a day. The Family Child Care providers at Cannon AFB believe that every child is unique and special. Providers and children respect each other's individual differences.
Any new providers wanting to start a home-care program must complete an application packet and return to Family Child Care coordinator at Chavez CDC, Building 7019. The Family Child Care program goal is to continue to provide a quality program to meet the needs of the children and their families.
All Providers are required to complete a minimum of 24 hours of training each year and be certified in CPR and First Aid. Each month, in depth monitoring visits are conducted by the FCC Coordinator to ensure standards are maintained as well as to help providers increase their knowledge in the Family Child Care business. Providers also have the opportunity to complete modules in Child Development, obtain CDA credentials or obtain the NAFCC accreditation.
FCC providers care for children with special needs including children with asthma, allergies, cerebral palsy, and physical impairments. Providers provide care for children with special needs and during nontraditional shifts.
The Child Care for PCS Program is intended to help relieve some of the stress felt by families in the process of a PCS move. The Air Force Aid Society pays up to 20 hours of child care (per child) in licensed Family Child Care (FCC) home on base or Air Force Affiliated home off base. Families may use the 20 hours of care within 60 days before family departure from a base, and 60 days after arriving at their new base. In order to use this program, families must present a Certificate of Eligibility. Certificates are available from the Military & Family Readiness Center.
The Extended Duty Care Program assists military families working extended hours by increasing the hours of care available in Air Force licensed Family Child Care Homes. The Extended Duty Care Program provides services beyond the care that families are already purchasing in child care programs on or off base. The program offers care in FCC homes beyond the standard
5-day work week. Extended Duty Care offered at Cannon AFB includes Extended Duty Care, Returning Home Care, Medical Care, Wounded Warrior Care, and Child Care for Fallen Warriors. Returning home care entities a family to 16 hours of free child care for each child in an Extended Duty Care FCC home.
Pre-Deployment Child Care (PDCC) provides child care for children ages 12 and under. Up to 16 hours of care per child is available to those Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve members assigned to an Air Force or Joint Base Air Force led installation prior to deploying for more than 30 days. Care for PDCC is provided in an Air Force Family Child Care (AF FCC) home participating in the AF FCC Expanded Child Care (ECC) Program. The 16 hours must be used prior to deployment. To request care, the parent must complete the AF FCC ECC registration and submit it with a copy of their order to the FCC office.
Deployment Child Care (DCC) provides child care of children ages 12 and under. Up to 16 hours of care per child is available to those Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve members assigned to an Air Force or Joint Base Air Force led installation during the members deployment of more than 30 days. Care for DCC is provided in an Air Force Family Child Care (AFCC) home participating in the AF FCC Expanded Child Care (ECC) Program. The 16 hours must be used during the deployment. To request care, the parent must complete the AF FCC ECC registration and submit it with a copy of their orders to the FCC office.
